The National Football League (NFL) has begun a search for a Vice President, General Manager of Sports Betting in a bid to build upon growth, strategy, LSB initiatives and partnerships.
The league has highlighted that the new hire should ‘protect the integrity of the game’, as the announcement follows Calvin Ridley’s suspension for wagering on Atlanta Falcons games.
The job description reads: “The ideal candidate works collaboratively, builds consensus while anticipating future dependencies, possesses strong interpersonal leadership qualities, and has a deep understanding of both the sports betting and general sports business landscapes.”
Whilst the new hire would look to expand business relationships with interested sponsors or partners, the league is also advertising roles for computer programmers who can ‘combine expert level design skills and forward design thinking to develop a clear vision for the future of NFL digital gaming experiences’.
The NFL continues its reach into the sports betting market, having formed partnerships last year with FOX Bet, BetMGM, PointsBet, and WynnBET which all became approved sportsbook operators for the 2021 season.
The April prior, the league also announced its first-ever US sportsbook partnerships with Caesars Entertainment, DraftKings and FanDuel.
As part of those deals, in addition to having the exclusive right to leverage NFL marks within the sports betting category, integrate into NFL O&O properties, and activate around retail and online sports betting, the firms also leveraged their sportsbook operator status to secure NFL advertising inventory during games and around ancillary programming.
