Italian football giants, Inter Milan have announced the appointment of Giuseppe Marotta as the club’s Chief Executive Officer of Sport.

Marotta has enjoyed a rich history in Italian football, having enjoyed six years as Sampdoria CEO, as well as a further eight years at Juventus. Marotta takes up his new role at Inter immediately having had his Juventus contract terminated in January.

The Milan club will adopt a co-CEO model, in which Marotta will work alongside Alessandro Antonello who becomes Chief Executive Officer Corporate in charge of all corporate activities.

Both CEOs will report to Inter President, Steven Zhang, who emphasised the importance of the new appointment: “This is an important change for the club in line with our objective of becoming a winning football club and a successful company. As Inter, we want to win, entertain, inspire and connect people through football.

“Beppe [Marotta] is one of the best executives in the football industry and will help us to achieve our goals. Outside of the pitch Alessandro will ensure the enhancement of our off-pitch performance, the successful completion of the Club’s strategic projects, and the promotion of our values inside the organisation.”

Marotta added: “I am happy and proud to be beginning a new professional challenge at a prestigious club such as Inter. President Steven Zhang has an ambitious project and I am looking forward to becoming an active part of that.”

The appointment was followed by Inter unveiling plans for the expansion if its fanbase with the launch of a an official club channel on the video sharing platform TikTok.

The account will provide fans a wide portfolio of exclusive content, allowing a greater insight behind the scenes at the Nerazzurri.

The launch allows the club to strengthen its presence on social channels and cater a wider range of content to a younger and millennial demographic.
