Formula One and Best Water Technology (BWT) have expanded their ongoing sustainability-oriented partnership, with a plastic reduction commitment.

Austrian water company BWT will continue to serve as the official water technology partner of the global motorsport racing series under the terms of the multi-year partnership.

BWT will also gain increased brand visibility as a result of the agreement, with its pink branding appearing regularly during race weekends, already featuring on Aston Martin Cognizant F1 team cars.

Additionally, Formula One will work to make elite motorsports free of single-use plastic by 2025, offering reusable water bottles to attendees at Formula One events.

Furthermore, BWT will operate water refilling stations as part of a new plan to reduce plastic waste, and encourage more sustainable solutions across motor racing.

Ben Pincus, Director of Commercial Partnerships at Formula One, noted: “Sustainability is hugely important to us as a sport and having BWT as an official partner demonstrates our commitment to making a positive change across our sport and we look forward to building on our exciting partnership.”

“With BWT Bottle Free Zones we offer Formula One a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic bottles, unnecessary plastic waste, transport as well as CO2 emissions,” added Lutz Hübner, Chief Marketing Officer at BWT.

“As the most important worldwide motorsport series, with massive reach, Formula One is the perfect platform for us to publicise both our mission and the concept of the Bottle Free Zone to a worldwide audience and urge as many people as possible to join our movement.”

The agreement is the latest deal cliched by Formula One, following last month’s betting partnership with Pokerstars, whilst the aforementioned Aston Martin team also struck an agreement with video-sharing platform TikTok.
