Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) competitor, Islam Makhachev, has entered into a sponsorship agreement with cryptocurrency platform, Saitama.

Building on the crypto-UFC relationship, the deal is expected to boost Saitama’s public presence through the sport and attract new users into the company’s smart wallet, Saitamask

“With the impressive rate that Saitama is growing, I feel great about collaborating with them and sharing their brand with more people to invest in the currency early,” commented Makhachev on his new agreement.

“I appreciate Saitama’s confidence in my skills, and I look forward to serving as a strong endorsement of this token and its leadership team now, and in the future.”

The link-up comes ahead of the Russian professional’s five round main event at the end of the month against Beneil Dariush, with an eye on a potential title clash in line for the winner.

Aaron Malik, Developer at Saitama, added on the partnership: “We wanted Islam Makhachev to become an ambassador for Saitama because he is a great UFC fighter. He is disciplined and overall, a very respectful man both inside and outside of the UFC cage.

“This sponsorship is a great opportunity for Saitama to connect with UFC fans and consumers worldwide as more and more people learn the benefits and opportunities that crypto-currencies provide.”

Furthermore, the announcement has come just mere weeks after UFC Champion Francis Ngannou teamed up with CashApp to promote Bitcoin. This deal saw the firm doubling down its approach to marketing for the event, whilst looking to engage MMA fans with a $300,000 giveaway.
