The National Football League (NFL) and Fanatics are opening six retail stores across Brazil to prepare for the first-ever regular season NFL game in São Paulo.
Ahead of the first-ever NFL game in Brazil on 6 September, the NFL and Fanatics will launch and manage pop-up retail stores in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
For the game itself at Corinthians Arena, Fanatics will also run five shops, including a 1,000-square-meter superstore presented by Visa, and a dedicated retail space at the NFL Experience fan festival from 6-8 September at Parque Villa Lobos in São Paulo.
Fans will have the opportunity to buy a variety of NFL-licenced merchandise, including official team jerseys, New Era Caps, collectibles, exclusive collaborations and limited-edition gameday collections.
Pierre Leclerc, Retail Director at Fanatics, commented: “The NFL’s first-ever regular season game played in Brazil is a historic event, and we are delighted to mark this seismic occasion for fans by bringing them a next-level retail experience across six stores in the country.
“We are committed to enhancing the NFL fan experience and making NFL merchandise more accessible for all, no matter where you may be in the world.”
The full list of NFL stores across Brazil includes locations at Shopping Morumbi in São Paulo, Barra Shopping in Rio de Janeiro, and four airports: Aeroporto de Congonhas, Aeroporto do Santos Dumont, Aeroporto do Galeão, and Aeroporto de Guarulhos.
Brand and licensing specialist One Projetos will also collaborate with the two parties to ensure the best experience for NFL fans across Brazil, leveraging its local knowledge.
Last year, the NFL confirmed plans to make its South American debut via a match in Brazil, the continent’s largest country. The league believes it has around 35 million fans in the country – the third largest NFL fandom, behind the US and Mexico.
Media rights have already been signed, with Peacock set to broadcast the game, which will feature the Green Bay Packers against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Salha Latif, Vice President of International Consumer Products at the NFL, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Fanatics to bring six NFL Shop stores to our more than 35 million fans in key cities across Brazil.
“As the first-ever NFL game in South America, we’re looking forward to offering a wide range of merchandise across stores, allowing fans to showcase their passion for the sport in both lead up to and long after the game in September.”
