The Women’s National Basketball Association‘s (WNBA) latest expansion team, the Golden State Valkyries, has named JP Morgan Chase as its first founding partner.
Ahead of its debut season in the WNBA next year, the Valkyries have partnered with JP Morgan Chase to include Chase Freedom as a sponsored partner on the team’s jerseys, whilst playing at the Chase Centre.
Valkyries President, Jess Smith, said: “We are building the Valkyries with the intention of creating legacy on and off the court.
“JP Morgan Chase has had alignment with us every step of the way in building a powerful, state-of-the-art franchise that inspires fandom, drives impact, and will compete for championships. This partnership enhances each of our goals with their expertise, care, and tenacity for driving culture through sport.
“In addition to being our inaugural Shield Uniform Partner, which will be represented by our players and fans, we look forward to driving impact through financial literacy programming alongside a focus on women-owned small businesses.”
In advance of the Valkyries inaugural season in 2025, JP Morgan Chase will offer an exclusive inaugural season gift to Valkyries fans who purchase 2025 season tickets with a Chase debit or credit card.
Additionally, throughout the Valkyries season, JP Morgan Chase will feature exclusive offers to enhance the fan experience for all Chase cardholders, as well as several community initiatives across the Bay Area.
“JP Morgan Chase has been a long standing supporter of female athletes and we are thrilled to partner with the Valkyries to help build a world-class organisation that is going to push the game for athletes and fans,”
JP Morgan Chase Chief Marketing Officer, Carla Hassan, added: “We could not have scripted a better partnership, one that reinforces our commitment to advance and economically empower the Bay Area, expands on our work to drive financial literacy in the region, and helps us more deeply engage with our customers.”
“Originating from Norse mythology, Valkyries are a host of warrior women who are fearless and unwavering – flying through air and sea alike. This brand is Golden State’s modern interpretation of Valkyries: strong, bold, and fierce.”
The Valkyries were confirmed as the latest WNBA expansion team after being approved last year by the league’s Board of Governors. The team is owned by NBA Golden State Warriors majority owners Joe Lacob and Peter Gruber.
