The PGA Tour has kicked off 2025 with some major media developments, launching its PGA Tour Studios production studio and signing a deal with Warner Bros Discovery (WBD).

The latter arrangement will see WBD’s Max streaming service become the media platform for the PGA Tour in Spain, replacing local Telefonica-owned outlet Movistar, which had been sub-licencing the rights from WBD since 2019.

This will ensure the PGA Tour continuing media exposure in one of Europe’s biggest markets. However, the second development this week has more significance for the PGA Tour’s worldwide operations.

PGA Studios will function as a ‘state of the art production studio’ delivering golf content to the PGA Tour’s followers. The studio will house all PGSA Tour media operations, including live production of PGA Tour Champions, the Korn Ferry Tour, and 5,000 hours of PGA Tour Live on ESPN.

PGA Tour Commissioner, Jay Monahan, said: “PGA Tour Studios is a landmark step in golf media, signaling a tangible investment to more deeply connect with our fans through energetic, compelling content that brings them further inside the ropes and closer to their favourite stars.

“Every new technology and forward-thinking innovation we introduce is about serving our fans and meeting them where they are and the creative capabilities of PGA Tour Studios will help us further that mission while showcasing the beauty of our sport.”

PGA Tour Studios will also cover the tour’s 50 original, social and digital media platforms, and a library of golf content consisting of 170,000 videos and totalling 223,000 hours of content dating back to a film transfer from 1920.

The PGA asserts that the opening of its new studio is a ‘pivotal next step of golf content production in an ever changing media landscape and one that will fuel exponential growth in the Tour’.
