LIV Golf continues to challenge the status quo with a new golfing format, and with today’s broadcast deals with TNT Sports and Sky Deutscheland, it has two global markets to grow its brand.
TNT Sports has agreed a new mutli-year partnership with LIV Golf today (January 9) to broadcast 14 global events in the UK and Ireland.
The deal will enable TNT Sports and its streaming platform Discovery+ to broadcast live coverage from the 2026 LIV Golf season, which starts on February 4 at the ROSHN Group LIV Golf Riyadh.
TNT Sports will also broadcast for British and Irish audiences events in the UK, US, Hong Kong, Singapore and the inaugural LIV Golf South Africa event on March 19-22.
Across all 14 events this year, TNT Sports will produce on-site dedicated presentations across each LIV Golf event weekend, with scheduling and coverage plans expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
LIV Golf differentiates itself from the PGA Tour by operating 54 holes, instead of 72, a greater focus on team-based events and perhaps most significantly, more money in long-term contracts and a larger pool of prize money for golfers.
There has been an exodus of previous PGA Tour players transitioning over to LIV Golf in recent years, such as Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm who signed for reportedly large figure contracts.
These players, as well as European players like Sergio Garcia, Paul Casey and Tyrrell Hatton will be able to compete on British and Irish TV’s and digital platforms once the season begins in February.
“Our new partnership with TNT Sports represents a historic moment for LIV Golf as we cement our footprint in one of the most important and influential sports territories in the world,” said Örjan Olsson, SVP of International Media Rights at LIV Golf.
“Together, we’re bringing fans in the UK a reimagined golf experience with sharper storytelling, deeper narratives across our League, Teams and players, and unprecedented access to our biggest stars and teams.”
TNT Sports diversifying its portfolio
While its parent company Warner Bros. Discovery is currently in the midst of being acquired by Netflix, TNT Sports has had to manoeuvre a sports broadcast landscape that has become increasingly competitive with the rise of streaming platforms.
This added competition saw Paramount become the new broadcast partner for the UEFA Champions League in the UK and Ireland, starting for the 2026/27 season.
Champions League rights were some of the most valuable to TNT Sports’ British and Irish offering. However, the network retained its domestic Premier League rights until 2029 and has picked up various other sporting rights to diversify its offering.
While its linear TV competitor Sky Sports holds domestic rights for the PGA Tour, TNT Sports will hope to increase its golf audience with the PGA’s competitor LIV, while also offering coverage on the UFC, Gallagher PREM rugby, the FA Cup and MotoGP.
“Showcasing some of the world’s best male golfers playing on LIV Golf is a positive addition to TNT Sports’ portfolio of premium live sport, further placing our channels and platforms as a leading destination for all the sports you love,” said Scott Young, Executive Vice President of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe.
“It also allows us to further reward our existing base of fans by bringing them huge golf events throughout the year as part of their subscription.”
LIV Golf gains exposure in Germany
Following the announcement of the TNT Sports deal, Sky Deutschland acquired exclusive rights to broadcast LIV Golf in Germany.
As part of the agreement, Sky Deutschland will broadcast all LIV Golf live events in 2026, totalling up to 30 events. Its coverage will begin with the ROSHN Group LIV Golf Riyad event on February 4.
“LIV Golf’s global schedule and distinctive team and individual competition format offer fans access to the world’s leading, legendary, and emerging golf stars across iconic venues and diverse international markets,” said Hans Gabbe, Senior Vice President Sports Rights & Commercialisation at Sky Deutschland.
“In the year ahead, our customers can look forward to innovatively produced events and engagement with many of the world’s most compelling players.”
