Quebec-based football team Montréal Impact has strengthened its pre-existing alliance with the Bank of Montréal (BMO) to expand its coverage of its esports division.

Montréal Impact competes in eMLS, a FIFA competition that includes teams from Major League soccer, which acts as the official league qualifier for the FIFA eWorld Cup tournament.

Rino Folino, Partnership Director at Montréal Impact discussed the expansion in a statement: “We are proud that our presenting partner has decided to also associate itself with our eSports platform, which is in full growth.

“We aim to bring this platform to the next level, and the confidence BMO shows towards our eSports initiative demonstrates we are on the right path.”

As well as competing in FIFA, the team has an esports kiosk in the BMO Celebration Zone, which is located in its stadium, Stade Saputo.

The football team signed a long-term, multi-million dollar deal with the banking firm in October of last year, as an extension to the partnership which has existed since 2012.

Claude Gagnon, President, Operations at BMO also commented: “We are proud of our partnership with the Montreal Impact and we are happy to support its initiatives, like the eSports platform, a new trend that is growing in popularity within the new generation.”
