The Professional Football League (LFP) has agreed a three year partnership with Betclic which will see the online gambling firm become the official sports betting platform for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
LFP’s deal with Betclic is set to offer ‘important opportunities to recruit and connect with new fans digitally’ particularly within the 18-35 demographic. Moreover, from the 2020/2021 season the firm will offer numerous activations, both online and on social networks in order to boost the fan engagement opportunities for both competitions.
Didier Quillot, Executive Director of the LFP stated: “We are very pleased to welcome Betclic as a partner of Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT. The arrival of this new partner demonstrates the attractiveness of our two leagues.
“Working alongside Betclic, a modern and strong company for young people, we have found the best partner to support us in expanding and engaging our fanbase digitally.”
In the announcement, the LFP also highlighted that the arrangement ‘confirms the attractiveness’ of its new Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 digital platforms which were launched in January after the governing body initiated a major online revamping.
Nicolas Béraud, founder and CEO, Betclic added: “We are very proud to partner with Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT. These two leagues are very well supported by our players, Ligue 1 Uber Eats in particular is the most wagered upon competition on Betclic.
“The offers that we are going to deploy as part of this partnership will allow all French football fans to experience their passion for the sport even more intensely.”
The partnership coincides with Ligue 1’s title sponsorship with Uber Eats and Ligue 2’s partnership with BKT, with both deals set to begin next season.
Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 will commence its 2020/21 campaign later this year, at a slightly delayed 23 August date as a result of the COVID-19 global health pandemic.
