DAZN Group has appointed Bosco Aranguren to run its operations in Spain as the global sports and entertainment company’s new General Manager.

From 18 April, Aranguren will be based in DAZN’s Madrid office joining what the group has described as a ‘revitalised and heavyweight’ leadership team, which has recently grown with the appointment of Franco Bernabè as a Strategic Advisor and Stefano Azzi as CEO of DAZN Italy.

On his new appointment, Aranguren stated: “I am very excited to join DAZN at this momentous time. I am convinced that with the passionate and talented team in Spain, we will deliver the most exciting, sociable and engaging viewing experience for sport fans.”

The announcement follows the firm’s acquisition of domestic LaLiga rights in Spain, which would see the DAZN partner with Telco Telefónica to broadcast five weekly LaLiga matches, starting from next season.

The group’s new hire has experience in digital consumer businesses and over 20 years in marketing, customer management and business development. He joins from Vodafone Spain’s Executive Committee, where he ran Vodafone’s digital and growth areas.

Previously, Aranguren held senior roles in Microsoft and Google, whilst his knowledge of the domestic consumer market and expertise in digital transformation is being brought in to help accelerate DAZN’s growth in Spanish territory.

“We are very happy to welcome Bosco to DAZN at this exciting time of expansion for us. Creating this role and recruiting someone of Bosco’s stature demonstrates our commitment to and investment in the Spanish market,” added Shay Segev, DAZN CEO.

“Bosco’s experience and knowledge of the market will help us drive the business forward as we expand our sports entertainment offering through strategic global partnerships.”

DAZN continues in its efforts to add to its rights portfolio which also includes Copa del Rey, the Premier League, MotoGP, Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, boxing, to name a few.

With the recent acquisition of the LaLiga rights, Spain joined Italy, Germany and Japan in the list of markets where DAZN holds extended domestic rights.
