Boxing promotion Probellum has announced a new multi-fight broadcast deal with US TV conglomerate Discovery

Featured on Discovery Sports, Probellum fight cards will be broadcasted through Eurosports linear channels ‘Discovery+’ and the Eurosport app.

Former Golden Boy Promoter now Probellum President, Richard Schaefer, spoke on the ‘landmark’ deal: “Agreeing a multi-fight deal with a broadcasting powerhouse such as Discovery is a truly momentous day for our company so early in our journey.

“Discovery’s truly global audience is the perfect platform for us to help continue with our core mission to open up boxing to new audiences by bringing together the best fighters for fans around the world.

“Together, I know we are going to bring about real change to the way that live boxing is presented. I have no doubt that it will be the perfect broadcast partner as we aim to transform how fans can experience boxing.”

The deal will begin by covering back-to-back fights on March 18 and 19. World Lightweight champion Estelle Mossley defends her IBO title against Yanina Lescanon in Dubai on the 18th, whilst IBF Super-Flyweight champion Sunny Edwards takes on Pakistan’s Muhammad Waseem the following day.

Boasting a roster of over 50 fighters, including current and former world champions, Discovery provides a platform for talent signed with Probellum to showcase their skills.

“Discovery has a strong heritage taking sports to wider audiences and in helping grow competitions and events using our full scale of channels and digital platforms,” said Trojan Paillot, VP Sports Rights Acquisition and Syndication at Discovery Sports

“With the global reach that Discovery enjoys, this new partnership with Probellum is a perfect opportunity to showcase some of the best athletes in the world to millions of passionate sports fans in Europe and the Indian subcontinent.”

Discovery will also be televising Probellum fights on March 25 in Newcastle, with a Lightweight clash between Lewis Ritson and Dejan Zlaticanin main eventing the card.

Since founding Probellum last September, Schaefer has made it a focus to deliver boxing fights that best represent international markets outside of the United States.
