LiveScore has secured the exclusive rights to broadcast the FIFA Club World Cup for free to fans in Ireland.

The deal, brokered by SARAN Media Group, will see the sports media business deliver content to fans in the country via its app and website, in line with the company’s free-to-air model for global football events.

Ric Leask, Marketing Director at LiveScore, expressed: “At LiveScore, we bring fans closer to the sports they love. We believe fans should have access to the biggest football matches and events, without having to pay extortionate prices, especially in the current economic climate.”

The news follows LiveScore’s existing rights deal within Ireland to live-stream all UEFA Champions League matches for free on the LiveScore app and website until 2024.

“We are thrilled to be bringing more football to fans in Ireland through our successful free-to-air model,” Leask added. “The reception from fans in the region to our Champions League broadcasts has been hugely positive and we’re excited to build on this success by adding the FIFA Club World Cup to our offering.”

The 2023 competition, currently held by Chelsea, this year includes UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid, Egyptian side Al Ahly SC, Auckland City, CAF Moroccan champions Wydad AC, Saudi outfit Al-Hilal, MLS’ Seattle Sounders and Brazilian side Flamengo.

Kicking off today, Al Ahly takes on Auckland City in the opening match and will culminate in the final kicking off 11 February.
