UK-based horse racing media distributor Racecourse Media Group (RMG) has inked a partnership with Australian bookmaker Tabcorp.

Commencing 1 January 2024, the five-year media rights agreement will see distribution of British and Irish racing across Tabcorp’s channels in Australia and New Zealand. RMG is the media-rights holder to a range of British and Irish racecourses.

The firm’s content will be delivered from high-profile Jockey Club affiliated racecourses such as Epsom, Newmarket, Aintree and Cheltenham, as well as independent tracks like York and Goodwood.

Martin Stevenson, RMG CEO, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Tabcorp and the pre-eminent brand of Sky Racing. British racing, and Irish via the tote service, will enjoy a terrific shop window in Australia and New Zealand, and we look forward to working closely together on maximising the profile of, and revenues for, our racecourses.”

Tabcorp is one of the market leaders in Australian betting, but is also active in the media field, where it has significant influence in the Australian horse racing space via its Sky Racing holding.

The company’s racing broadcast offering is even leveraged by some of its competitors – for example, earlier this year Flutter Entertainment’s Australian brand Sportsbet signed a renewal of its partnership with ASX-listed Tabcorp to continue using Sky Racing content.

Adam Brownlee, General Manager at Sky Racing (Australia), commented: “Sky Racing is the home of racing in Australia, broadcasting more than 150,000 races live every year into 4,000 outlets and 1.3 million homes across Australia.

“This partnership will grow and promote British and Irish content throughout Australasia which is a great outcome for the industry.”
