beIN Sports has secured an extra three years of La Liga coverage after coming to a new broadcast rights agreement.
Commencing this season until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, beIN Sports will continue to deliver La Liga matches to 11 markets across the Asia-Pacific region.
The new broadcast rights deal also means that beIN Sports becomes the exclusive La Liga broadcast provider for its relevant markets, including Australia and New Zealand, showcasing all 380 matches.
The exclusive deal covers the following countries across APAC: Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Australia and New Zealand.
Javier Tebas, President of La Liga, stated: “At La Liga we always look for best-in-class partners to deliver Spanish football to fans everywhere.
“Our relationship with beIN has been essential for us in order to ensure people in APAC to be able to enjoy a unique competition as La Liga to the fullest. We are sure that the next seasons are going to be unparalleled ones for our fans across the region.”
beIN has been a broadcast rights partner of La Liga in APAC since 2015, with the new extension seeing its coverage span all of its major pay-TV platforms in the region.
Both parties have also committed to take up new initiatives to combat audiovisual fraud in Malaysia and Indonesia, such as periodic administrative blockades.
beIN states that “audiovisual fraud is a scourge for the development of the audiovisual industry and the sports ecosystem, with a highly damaging impact on clubs, organisations and broadcasters”.
The anti-piracy teams of La Liga and beIN work closely to share intelligence information on common targets against piracy, new copyright regulations, detecting new piracy trends detected and developing a joint project to combat relevant hosting services.
Yousef Al-Obaidly, Group CEO of beIN Media Group, said: “We are delighted to extend our contract with La Liga with two significant multi-year deals across 34 countries.
“As long-term, committed partners of La Liga, we are proud to help Spanish football grow worldwide through our world-class broadcasting and our significant and dependable investment.
“This major deal is further testament to beIN’s considered and consistent strategy to deliver growth as one of the leading sports, entertainment and media groups in the world.”
The upcoming 2024/25 La Liga season promises to be one of the most exciting in the past several years. Kylian Mbappé will be making his long-awaited debut in the league, whilst fans will be eagerly expecting the progression of how FC Barcelona’s teenage phenomenon Lamine Yamal will perform.
