Chelsea FC has teamed up with MatchWornShirt, a global company that allows fans to own match-worn and autographed shirts.
Under the agreement, Chelsea fans can bid on unique match-worn and signed shirts from both the men’s and women’s teams for the current season and seasons to come. Auctions start as soon as a match begins and can be accessed exclusively through the MatchWornShirt website and app.
Authentication is crucial when buying signed and match-worn sports kits. Chelsea has ensured that all shirts auctioned by MatchWornShirt feature Fabricks, a state-of-the-art authentication technology. This technology provides each shirt with a personal digital certificate, ensuring its authenticity and protecting its identity.
Casper Stylsvig, Chief Revenue Officer of Chelsea FC, commented: “We are delighted to welcome MatchWornShirt to the club as our official online match shirt auction partner. They are an industry-leading organisation, bringing worldwide fans of so many sports closer to their heroes, offering the opportunity to buy worn and signed shirts in a safe and authenticated way.
“We know there is huge demand from our incredible supporters, both here in the UK and around the world, and we look forward to offering our supporters the opportunity to own a unique piece of their favourite player’s history with the club.”
Founded in 2017, MatchWornShirt began as a platform for match-worn and signed football shirts. It has since partnered with over 300 global entities, expanding to offer collectables from rugby, cricket, cycling and other sports.
James Flude, Head of Business Development at MatchWornShirt, said: “We have worked alongside the Chelsea Foundation for the past four years and have always been struck by the global demand for match-worn Chelsea shirts.
“The extension and expansion of this relationship with a more comprehensive club-wide partnership is an extremely proud moment for us, as it sees our commitment to the Foundation also grow.
“Thanks to auctions through our platform we are honoured to continue supporting the vital work the Foundation does with this extended partnership, which will continue to see a proportion of auction sales donated.”
Chelsea has revealed multiple partnerships this year, including recent deals with MSC Cruises, Fever, and MSport. Despite these collaborations, the Premier League club is still seeking a front-of-shirt sponsor.
