La Liga has partnered with cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company Bitget as its new official crypto partner.
Announced during the recent Token2049 event in Singapore, Bitget will gain mass exposure due to La Liga’s large international following, as well as in its native Spain.
The multi-million dollar agreement will see both parties share exclusive benefits and drive forward the ‘Make It Count’ shared vision of upholding similar values.
Javier Tebas, President of La Liga, said: “Over the last decade, digitalization and innovation have been among La Liga’s priorities. Last season, we made this a priority under the umbrella of our new era, which put the emphasis on technology: we want to be pioneers and we are committed to it.”
The Spanish football league will look to leverage and benefit from Bitget’s range of crypto and Web3 solutions.
La Liga will be supplied with solutions in the fields of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, big data and machine learning. This is in a bid to bolster game strategies and performance analysis, complementing its pre-existing work on NFTs.
Furthermore, the collaboration between Bitget and La Liga aims to explore the bridge between cryptocurrency and sports, targeting the adoption of crypto and Web3 technologies in emerging markets.
Football and crypto relationships appear to be back on the mend after two years of inactivity due to the crypto market nosediving through various high-profile collapses in 2022.
Most recently, blockchain infrastructure company BlockDAG was quick to enact the market’s recovery, inking deals with Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund within the same week.
“As the world of sports continues to embrace digital innovation, crypto, blockchain, and emerging technology are becoming integral to this transformation,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget.
“Partnering with LALIGA allows us to accelerate the growth of crypto in sports, bringing new opportunities for fans and athletes alike. LALIGA’s sports spirit aligns with our belief of “Make It Count”, achieving greatness through perseverance and positive passion.
“We believe this collaboration will enhance the experience for over a billion people as it sets a path for broader adoption of Web3 in emerging markets.”
