Bundesliga club BVB Dortmund has signed a three-year partnership with BlockDAG, a blockchain company, showing the continuing interest in crypto in sporting circles.

Blockchain firm BlockDAG has become a new sponsorship partner with the Bundesliga’s BVB Dortmund in a three-year agreement.

The “record-breaking” $10m deal is being hailed as the largest crypto-related partnership in German football history as crypto companies continue to venture into the world of football for enhanced visibility.

As Dortmund’s Premium Blockchain Partner, BlockDAG will gain extensive branding rights, including LED advertising around the pitch, prominent placements on large screens during home matches and regular activations across Borussia Dortmund’s social media channels.

BlockDAG will also engage with Dortmund’s fans through a range of digital initiatives and in-person events to enhance fan engagement.

Carsten Cramer, CMO of Borussia Dortmund, commented: “We are thrilled to welcome BlockDAG as a Premium Partner of Borussia Dortmund.

“This partnership not only highlights our commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies but also reflects our vision of leading both on and off the pitch. We look forward to exploring the exciting possibilities that this collaboration will bring to our fans and the broader football community.”

Partnering with BlockDAG aligns Dortmund with cutting-edge technology, enhancing the club’s presence both on and off the pitch.

BlockDAG plans to launch a series of fan competitions and exclusive giveaways, including VIP matchday experiences and signed memorabilia. The initiatives are designed to deepen fan engagement and reward both existing and new $BDAG coin holders, in a bid to foster a more interactive connection between the club.

Furthermore, BlockDAG will offer exclusive VIP hospitality packages to select fans and $BDAG coin holders. These experiences will include behind-the-scenes stadium tours, meet-and-greets with Borussia Dortmund players, and access to exclusive events and premium seating.

Antony Turner, CEO of BlockDAG, said: “Partnering with one of the world’s most successful football clubs, boasting one of the largest and most passionate fan bases globally, marks a pivotal moment for BlockDAG.

“It was exciting to see our branding at the iconic 80,000 seater Signal Iduna Park during BVB’s recent victory over Eintracht Frankfurt and we eagerly anticipate many more exciting moments and successful outcomes in the future.”
