The Insider Sport team is getting ready to attend the Sportel Monaco conference taking place later this month, preparing for a range of conference sessions and interviews.
Scheduled between 28-30 October at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, the conference will feature some prominent speakers from across the sports sector. Attendees will come from a range of key stakeholders including the Premier League, LaLIga, Professional Fighters League (PFL), and more.
As a proud media partner of the event, Insider Sport aims to get to the heart of the action at Monaco to bring exclusive, in depth coverage of some of the major panels, speeches and discussions taking place, covering a range of topics such as broadcasting and media, sponsorship and data, among others.
Notable sessions include a keynote speech by Javier Tebas, President of Spain’s LaLiga, who will discuss what measures the Spanish top-flight has implemented to combat audiovisual fraud in sports media and broadcasting.
With 2024 seeing an action-packed summer of sport, this is unsurprisingly on the agenda for both SPORTEL and Insider Sport. A panel titled “Paris 2024: An Olympic Broadcast & Viewership Success” featuring Alibaba Group President J Michael Evans, WBD Sports Europe’s SVP Content, Production & Business Operations, Michael R. Payne, and OBS CEO Yiannis Exarchos.
The value of sponsorship cannot be understated, however, both in a broad sporting sense and in the context of the agenda at Monaco later this month. As SPORTEL itself has noted, sponsorship is now the second most important revenue stream for most rights holders.
Insider Sport readers will be all too familiar with how important sponsorship revenue is for sports clubs and associations themselves. In England, for example, sponsorship revenue has become even more important for Premier League clubs in the context of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The dynamics of sponsorship and its crucial role in securing revenue will be under the microscope at SPORTEL, with the firm’s Giovanni Aquilanti leading a discussion around sponsorship with Marco Nazzari of FIUFA, Nevio Devide of Milano Cortina 2026 and Lowell Conn of Protocol Sports Marketing.
Other topics on the agenda include the now familiar face of Artificial Intelligence (AI), which is making a deep impact on sports and various other sectors, as well as dedicated sessions championing women in sports media and innovation.
“SPORTEL Monaco continues to evolve, with the pulse of the sports media landscape,” said Loris Menoni, Executive Director of SPORTEL Monaco. “This year, we are thrilled to welcome an unprecedented number of executive leaders and innovators, sharing their visions on the future of sports media and the technologies that are redefining our industry.
“In 2024, the focus on emerging trends such as AI and innovations for broadcast, demonstrates how SPORTEL remains at the forefront of innovation. Our goal is to provide participants with an environment where they can not only discover these technologies and trends, but also engage with the minds shaping the future of global sports.”
