NBA player Tristan Thompson has combined his love for sports and cryptocurrency by becoming a brand ambassador for crypto betting platform Sportsbet.io.

As part of a two-year deal, the Canadian basketball player Thompson will share his insights on the latest sports action for Sportsbet.io, offering fans the chance to engage in exclusive promotions.

The Cleveland Cavalier centre will provide weekly betting tips across various sports, including NFL, MLB, football, tennis, golf, UFC and boxing.

The 2016 NBA Championship winner has a strong “passion” for cryptocurrency and has previously been a vocal supporter of Bitcoin, recently celebrating its new all-time high in price.

Thompson said: “Sportsbet.io brings together my two biggest passions: sports and cryptocurrency. I’ve been following the crypto sector for some time now and have seen how transformative it can be. There’s no better place to combine that with my love of sports than Sportsbet.io.”

This agreement adds to Sportsbet.io’s growing portfolio of sports partnerships, which includes collaborations with Premier League club Newcastle United, La Liga, and former cricketer Brett Lee.

Recently, the crypto betting platform also secured a deal with the World Snooker Tour (WST), becoming the official partner for three major WST tournaments this year.

Shane Anderson, Director of Partnership, Content and Brand at Yolo Entertainment, the operator of Sportsbet.io, stated: “We’d like to give a huge Sportsbet.io welcome to Tristan, an elite athlete whose passion for both basketball and cryptocurrency makes him a perfect match for us.

“We’re thrilled to have him on the team, and we already have some exciting plans in the works. Watch this space.”
