Swiss football club FC Basel has named European crypto company Bitpanda its front-of-shirt sponsor starting from the 2025/26 season.
The multi-year agreement will see Bitpanda gain branding on the front of FC Basel first-team men’s shirts, as well as visibility across the St. Jakob-Park.
Bitpanda’s latest football sponsorship complements its existing presence within Swiss football, as the crypto company is already a main sponsor of the Swiss Super League.
David Degen, Chairman of FC Basel, said: “We are proud and delighted to welcome Bitpanda as our new Main Sponsor to the FCB family.
“Both companies share a passion for innovation and the ambition to break new ground. With Bitpanda, we gain a strong international partner by our side, who not only shares our values but is also rooted in the heart of Europe, just like us.
“We also gain a partner through whom our fans can connect with the club in new and exciting ways.”
Both Bitpanda and FC Basel highlighted that its partnership will ‘go beyond traditional football sponsorships’, seeking to collaborate on digital fan experiences designed to educate the FC Basel fanbase on the benefits of cryptocurrency.
Bitpanda intends to create content formats and strategic initiatives that engage the fanbase, while also looking to build a strong connection with the fans of the 20-time Swiss Super League champions.
The front-of-shirt sponsorship element is a first for Bitpanda in its strategic sports sponsorship initiative.
Eric Demuth, CEO and Co-Founder of Bitpanda, commented: “As a passionate sports fan, I know how much heart, identity, and dedication go into a club like FC Basel. For me, it’s always something special to work with people and institutions that honor their roots, live true values, and have built a strong community across generations.
“This grounded mindset and relentless drive for progress are a perfect match for what we stand for at Bitpanda. That’s why we’re incredibly excited to support FC Basel as main sponsor and to write new chapters together in this great tradition.”
Bitpanda has embarked on a European-wide sports sponsorship strategy which has seen the crypto company partner with football clubs such as FC Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan. The company has also branched out to tennis too, recently becoming a partner of the ATP Tour and with world-ranked tennis players such as Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem.
