DAZN has expanded its team with the appointment of former Entain executive Ian Turnbull to EVP of Betting and Gaming, as the firm looks to increase its engagement within the sports sector.
The new hire joins former fellow Entain employee Shay Segev, and looks to expand DAZN in ‘amplifying offerings around the world, and giving sports fans the best end-to-end experience on one platform’.
Turnbull’s career in the betting and gaming space saw him work as Microgaming’s Services Director, and most prominently as Head of B2B at Entain, where he worked on the creation of BetMGM with MGM Resorts.
To further strengthen its links with the sports betting industry, DAZN has also revealed plans to hire a new VP of Product for its wagering division.
A job description for this position read: “DAZN has been changing how the world consumes sports for the past five years and we are now embarking on an exciting new stage of our journey.
“As our VP of Product, your goal will be to capitalise on the unique opportunity that DAZN has right now: to establish a truly world class betting proposition alongside premier sports rights in some of the most exciting markets in the world.”
The company’s further engagement attempts include this year’s Matchroom Boxing coverage. This partnership promised 16 Matchroom UK fights annually available to DAZN subscribers in the UK and Ireland for the first time.
Additionally, in recent weeks, Kevin Meyer, CEO of DAZN, has reiterated his interest in acquiring media rights to the Premier League, as the Royal Television Company confirms that providing coverage of the Premier League was still on his company’s agenda.
