Karate Combat has confirmed a deal with Eurosport which will see the sports broadcasting platform air Karate Combat: Season 4 across its network.

MMA’s Georges St-Pierre is joined this season by fellow karate black belt and UFC’s Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson along with returning Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida.

Along with analyst Bas Rutten, the three have stated that they will offer insights and tips both to the fighters and at-home viewers. Also joining Rutten on the broadcast and presentation team are Josh Palmer and Layla-Anna Lee.

St-Pierre stated: “Karate Combat is one of the most exciting combat sports organisations out there and things are really going to another level this season – I can’t wait for people to see what’s coming.

“This is full-contact, fast-paced elite striking and I’m really happy that finally karate athletes have a place where they can turn pro.”

Furthermore, the partners have stated that Olympic medalists, world champions and top new prospects ‘feature prominently’ throughout the season.

Athletes are set to take part in encounters to step closer to coveted Karate Combat World Championship title belts in full-contact professional bouts.

The competition commenced last Saturday and now consists of four events airing at two-week intervals. The season will conclude with an event airing live from what has been described as a ‘world-famous location’ outside Orlando in Florida on 25 June.

Adam Kovacs, Karate Combat President, added: “Last season’s partnership with Eurosport was a huge success and set new viewership records for Karate Combat in key territories.

“So we are delighted to announce a new agreement which retains Eurosport as the European television home of Karate Combat and will bring Karate Combat: Season 4 to millions of households across the continent.”
