TNT Sports is set to add several major tournaments to its broadcasting portfolio in the UK and Ireland at the end of February by integrating all Eurosport content.

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), the parent company of both sports media outlets, intends to bring Eurosport’s content to TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland from 28 February 2025.

All Eurosport live and non-live content will be subsequently broadcast across TNT Sports, fulfilling a long-held WBD and BT objective. Eurosport’s channels and brand in the 50 other countries where it is active will remain unchanged.

The ambition to eventually integrate Eurosport into TNT UK and Ireland was first outlined back in 2023 when the latter was first launched as a rebrand of BT Sports, part of a joint venture by WBD and telecommunications company BT.

“Combining Eurosport and TNT Sports content in the UK and Ireland will enable us to offer a single, premium viewing experience for sports fans,” said Scott Young, Group SVP, Content, Production and Business Operations, WBD Sports Europe.

“This move in the UK and Ireland will also continue to best deliver value for our leagues and federation partners, as we continue our 35 years plus commitment to investment and championing of sport on our screens, which remains a fundamental part of the success of grassroots through to elite.”

The integration will significantly expand TNT Sports’ UK and Irish sports content, with the company’s podium spot in UK sports broadcasting already cemented as one of the two main rights holders of the Premier League, along with Sky Sports.

Post-integration, the firm’s sports portfolio will include the Premier League, UEFA European club football, Premiership men’s and women’s rugby union, international cricket, UFC, boxing, and MotoGp.

Additional tournaments also include tennis’ Australian Open and French Open, Grand Tour and UCI Mountain Bike World Series cycling, snooker, the summer Olympic Games from 2026-2032, and every major winter sports world championship.

These competitions will be broadcast via TNT Sports and its streaming platform, Discovery+. There is also a free-to-air element, however, with WBD and TNT planning to distribute ‘compelling sports programming, documentaries and live sport’ via Quest.

It is not exactly clear what tournaments or leagues this will encompass, but nonetheless, it is an interesting development given the shift towards pay-TV sports consumption in the UK, with even the FA Cup now divided now between the BBC and TNT.

“TNT Sports will also continue to bring more content to fans on Warner Bros. Discovery’s free-to-air channel Quest,” Young continued.

“In 2025, this will include broadcasting every MotoGP Sprint race, adding to existing live Bennetts British Superbikes coverage, a brand-new weekly cycling show covering all key moments of the season, continue highlights of the Giro d’Italia and La Vuelta a Espana, plus premiere a range of new sports documentaries.”
