In a new strategic collaboration agreement, La Liga will work with social media platform TikTok to curate short-form video content to significantly boost its online presence and engagement.

The Spanish top-flight league noted that the agreement marks a “milestone on how football fans can enjoy and connect with their favourite sport, offering innovative experiences and exclusive content to TikTok’s global community”.

With TikTok boasting a large-scale user base of more than one billion worldwide, La Liga will look to tap into this massive market to not only showcase the best of the league and its players but also swell the interest of younger demographics.

As part of the agreement, TikTok will become the go-to platform for distributing La Liga’s official content, which will include special formats designed specifically for the app’s ecosystem.

The league will leverage TikTok’s features to offer exclusive content under the hashtag #InsideLALIGA, where fans can go behind-the-scenes for closer in-depth insights behind the league.

Fans can also access unique experiences by collaborating with some of TikTok’s leading content creators. This aims to offer a different perspective during matchday events and highlights high-profile moments in the club’s daily lives, allowing supporters to stay connected to all aspects of the league and its clubs.

Additionally, TikTok also becomes a priority innovation partner for La Liga, its clubs, and players, giving them early access to new platform features and advanced formats. This will allow the Spanish league to offer digital activations throughout the season, such as the most anticipated matches, competition finals, and other important dates.

As part of this collaboration, training sessions will also be organised for clubs and professionals to promote digital skills, enabling them to optimise their use of TikTok as a communication tool.
