Southampton Football Club has announced that Sportsbet.io will be the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor for the 2020/21 campaign.
As a result of the partnership, Sportsbet.io’s logo will be featured on the first team and Under-23 shirts. The one-year deal also sees Southampton name the cryptocurrency-based sports betting platform as its main club partner.
Sportsbet.io signed as Southampton’s new front-of-shirt sponsor in short notice following LD Sports’ exit. According to a report in the Daily Mail, LD Sports’ decision to walk away from the contract is influenced by political tensions between the UK and China as well as COVID-19 concerns.
Southampton Football Club’s Chief Commercial Officer, David Thomas, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Sportsbet.io as Main Club Partner.

The club has confirmed that plans are being put in place to provide the ‘best possible solution’ for fans who have already previously bought its 2020/21 kit with the LD Sports logo. Moreover, the club has temporarily halted all sales of home, away and third kits while the club updates its shirts for the upcoming season.
