Floyd Mayweather Jr has partnered with UK-based sports betting odds comparison site Oddschecker, strengthening his links with the sports betting space.

The partnership will see the undefeated professional boxer and five-weight world champion collaborate with the firm on its US-focused operations, with a specific focus on the National Football League (NFL) as the 2021 season begins.

These marketing campaigns will see Mayweather Jr help NFL fans ‘guide their decision making’, with the sport representing one of the most lucrative sports betting markets for US-facing operators.

“I’m happy to partner with Oddschecker for the NFL Kickoff,” Mayweather Jr commented. “Oddschecker gives you the best odds, picks and promos for free so you can bet smarter.”

Bruin Capital-owned Oddschecker plans to offer Super Bowl odds via its channels, enabling US sports fans to view and analyse predictions on NFL games, as more states open their markets to regulated wagering.

“We are very excited to be partnering with a superstar like Floyd Mayweather,” said Matt Mirman, Senior Vice  President, OddsChecker Global Media. “Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather is a winner in and out of the ring and we are thrilled to have our industry leading Odds Comparison tools assist him in his betting journey.”

The partnership has materialised as the US betting and gaming market continues to grow, with several states having already opened their jurisdictions to the sector and with many more in the process or preparing to do so.

According to research by the American Gaming Association (AGA), public opinion of the sector is also improving as the legalisation and regulation of the industry rolls out, with a total of two-thirds expressing a supportive view.

For Mayweather Jr, the deal marks another step in the former fighter’s engagement with new business opportunities, following on from his increasing prominence in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space.

Last month, the pound-for-pound great launched his own collection of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), entitled ‘The Legacy’, in collaboration with Iron Bend, Zytara Labs, Reality Gaming and Disruptive Art Production, and featuring five to celebrate his life and career.
