Borussia Mönchengladbach and kit supplier Puma have made an early, long-term extension to their partnership.

The Herzogenaurach-based sports kit company has supplied the Foals since 2018, and has been described as having shared a ‘long and special history’ with the Bundesliga team.

Puma was Borussia’s boot provider from the 1966/67 season, before the company provided kits and training wear for the club during the 1970s.

The company’s branding then appeared for the first time on a Borussia kit in the 1977 European Cup final against Liverpool FC, and the logo was printed on every Borussia kit from then until 1992.

“You could really feel the happiness back in 2018 when it was announced that PUMA would be our kit provider once again,” said Chief Executive, Stephan Schippers

“To be able to extend our partnership with Puma early and for the long term has brought that joy back once again. Our club has celebrated a long and successful history alongside Puma – the two simply belong together.”

Furthermore, 2018 saw Puma return to Borussia-Park as kit provider, with the motto: “Glad to be Back”, and since then have created pieces which transport the club’s DNA, with ‘a mix of tradition and modern elements’.

Puma’s CEO, Bjørn Gulden, added: “Puma and Borussia Mönchengladbach have had a historic and memorable history together, which we have continued since 2018.

“We are delighted to stand alongside the club as partners for the coming years, experiencing special moments on the pitch together and delivering products which excite the fans.”

Additionally, Guido Uhle, Borussia’s Director of Sponsoring, highlighted the partnership as an ‘emotional one’ due to the history the pair have shared.

He added: “We are proud to have a global brand like Puma by our side. The fact that we have been able to extend our partnership for the long term gives us security to plan for a successful future together.”
