The fight between Arsen Goulamirian and Aleksei Egorov on 19 November is to be sponsored by sports betting and gaming operator, VBET.
Goulamirian, the WBA cruiserweight titleholder, is set to compete for the first time in almost three years when he faces unbeaten Egorov at La Palsestre in Le Cannet, France.
“This fight is the three years of suffering that I spent … Egorov, he is going to pay dearly,” Goulamirian said on public television channel, France 2. He currently holds 26 victories to his credit, including 18 by K.O.
Russian Aleksei Egorov is his main rival – the 2013 European champion with eleven victories including seven by KO.
The two other fights in the tournament include super middleweight: Kevin Sadjo vs Emre Cukur, and light middleweight: Milan Prat vs Abass Baraou.
The pair had been due to fight last December, but Goulamirian tested positive for COVID-19 and therefore the clash was postponed.
VBET has described the partnership as a ‘symbolic choice’ since the sports betting company has its roots in Armenia, where Goulamirian was born before moving to France. The brand continues to pursue its sports marketing strategy, also having a notable presence in football.
In July, VBET entered into partnership with Ligue 1 club OGC Nice, which included key branding and broadcasting caveats, with the company logo appearing on club jerseys until 2025.
It also holds links with the likes of Paris FC, AS Monaco and the Ukrainian Association of Football.
