DAZN has revealed that Italian football fans on the platform will receive an expanded offering after the company secured a new partnership with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).

As per the new contract, DAZN becomes not only the main local broadcasting partner for the top Italian men’s league Serie A, but also receives the 2023/24 season rights to show over 20 live games from the women’s edition of the tournament, the Serie A Femminile

This adds to an already lengthy portfolio of women’s football for the sports media company, having previously secured the rights to air games from the US National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), Germany’s Frauen Bundesliga, the Women’s Super League (WSL) in England, the Spanish Liga F, as well as the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Additionally, the broadcaster has further cemented its role in developing the women’s game with the recent acquisition of women’s sports content curator ata football.

Federica Cappelletti, FIGC President of Professional Women’s Soccer, commented: “The arrival of the Women’s Serie A eBay on DAZN is splendid news for all of Italian women’s football and is synonymous with quality and visibility.

“I have personally had the opportunity to appreciate the narrative style used by the platform in football stories and, in the case of women’s football, in events such as the UEFA Women’s Champions League, and I am convinced that this agreement will be able to contribute in an extraordinary way to increasing the value of our championship, making them make a further leap in quality, both technically and culturally.”

The women’s football calendar returns with much anticipation after the hugely successful World Cup this Summer, which drew record engagement and significantly elevated the commercial ceiling for the sport.
