The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has acquired comprehensive media rights for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, set to take place from 2-27 July.
As per the agreement, all matches from the tournament will be broadcast live across 34 territories via union members’ free-to-air (FTA) channels and digital platforms. The deal includes coverage on TV, digital and radio.
Highlights from the competition will be accessible in round-up and news programming, as well as on digital platforms, with Eurovision News set to be supported by EBU members with a large output of news clips throughout the competition.
Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Marketing Director, commented: “Our partnership with the EBU is vital for promoting women’s football across Europe. Through the commitment demonstrated by EBU members, we can ensure the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 reaches a wide and diverse audience, inspiring future generations and supporting the growth of the women’s game.”
The EBU members that have committed to broadcasting the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 are: AMPTV, ARD, BBC, BHRT, BNR (Radio), BNT, CR (Radio), CT, CyBC, ERR, ERT, GPB, HRT, ITV, LR (Radio), LRT, LTV, MRT, MTVA, NOS, ORF, PBS, ROR (Radio), RTE, RTBF, RTCG, RTK, RTL, RTS, RTSH, RTV, RTVS, RUV, SRG SSR, TRT, TVR, VRT and ZDF.
This agreement builds on past deals between UEFA and the EBU such as its record-breaking coverage of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.
Glen Killane, Executive Director of Sport at the EBU, said: “This agreement for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 is unprecedented in terms of broadcast reach and reinforces our commitment to showcasing women’s football, ensuring it continues to grow and thrive.
“The deal reflects the core strategy of the EBU and its members of enhancing the promotion of women’s sports with strong and even more increased Members’ coverage complemented by the women’s football offer on Eurovision Sport.”
The EBU has set viewership records in other sports so far this year. In June the EBC announced that its members helped achieve record-breaking broadcast figures for the 2024 European Athletics Championships.
