Hull City FC has become the latest football club to partner with a financial firm, naming Cremello Currency as its official FX partner for the next two seasons.
Under the agreement, Cremello will sponsor the club’s birthday graphics and archive posts, which include historical footage and images shared on its social media platforms.
Additionally, its branding will also be displayed around MKM Stadium on home matchdays, both on the LED advertising boards and in the concourses.
Phil Dayes, Commercial Sales Manager at Hull City, stated: “We’re thrilled to partner with Cremello Currency for the 2024/25 season.
“This new deal represents a landmark sponsorship for Hull City as the club’s first foreign exchange partner. We look forward to seeing this partnership go from strength to strength throughout the season.”
There has been an apparent increase in clubs signing deals with companies in the financial sector in recent months. Toprak Alatas, Finance Director at Hull City, added that he looks forward to working with Cremello Currency to “benefit both parties”.
Georgie Oldfield, Head of Sales at Cremello, gave some inclination on how this may be achieved: “We are excited to get this partnership going and meet other partners of the club. As the first FX partner of Hull City, Cremello will look to show their expertise when it comes to exchanging currency for player transfers.”
Alongside this service, there will be a sponsorship fee that supports the club’s operations. For Cremello, the partnership offers significant exposure benefits. Exposure was one of the key advantages alluded to by Stephanie Wilks-Wiffen, Director of Marketing of UK and DACH at eToro, who discussed with Insider Sport how the trading platform has leveraged football and other sports in recent years.
Although perhaps optimistic, there is a chance that Hull City can gain promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, making this two-year deal very lucrative for Cremello.
