League One football club Wrexham AFC has appointed former Inter Milan employee Rob Faulkner as the club’s new Chief Business and Communications Officer.

Under his new role, Faulkner will be responsible for all commercial and communications activities at the club, such as sponsorship, partnership management, marketing, retail and merchandising, ticketing and hospitality and communications.

Starting his new job in December, Faulkner will join the club from the European Club Association, where he held the role of Communications and Marketing Director.

Previously, he has worked for UEFA, Inter Milan, European Athletics, Yamaha and Toyota. Additionally, the veteran speaks English, French, Italian and Spanish.

Commenting on his new role, Faulkner said: “I can’t wait to get started in my new role at Wrexham AFC as Chief Business and Communications Officer. The club has been on an upward spiral for the past three years, driven by its inspirational owners and loyal fans.

“I look forward to supporting its continued upwards journey both on and off the pitch, while keeping it firmly anchored in the hearts and minds of the local community. I would like to thank Wrexham AFC CEO Michael Williamson and Co-Chairmen Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds for this great opportunity.”

During his time at the club, Faulkner will report directly to Michael Williamson, CEO of Wrexham, who said he was “pleased to welcome Rob to the Wrexham family.”

Williamson added: “He brings with him more than 20 years of football experience, including long stints at UEFA and Inter Milan, where he created the Inter Media House.

“He has a wealth of international experience and a truly global outreach that will be vital as we move forward with our plans to grow the club’s domestic and international fan base.”

Earlier this year, on a constant mission of increasing the commercial value of the League One side, the club alongside Birmingham City proposed hosting a league fixture in the US for next season.
