The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has named FanDuel as its official sportsbook partner and exclusive in-app streaming partner in the US.
As part of the agreement, hockey fans will have access to live streaming of up to 90 regular season PWHL games and playoffs on the FanDuel app. They can watch the league while also placing a variety of bets, including player prop bets, novelty markets and same game parlays, all on one platform.
In an effort to enhance fan engagement with women’s hockey, the PWHL has announced that FanDuel will play a pivotal role starting 30 November, the beginning of the season. The North American sportsbook has also stated that partnership aims to bring fans closer to the action than ever before.
Acknowledging its responsibility as the official sportsbook partner of the PWHL, FanDuel stated that it is prioritising responsible play and offers PWHL fans a comprehensive set of tools, including deposit limits, wager limits, and more, to help manage their betting activity responsibly.
Dale Hooper, General Manager of FanDuel Canada, commented: “FanDuel is proud to partner with the PWHL and support the league’s incredible athletes. This partnership is about creating a new era of fan engagement – one that brings hockey closer to fans while helping grow the visibility of women’s professional sports.”
This partnership is the latest of a flurry of deals for the PWHL. Recently, it announced Scotia Bank as the league’s first-ever official banking partner, as well as added Amazon Prime to its established list of media partners.
Alongside advancing its commercial partnerships, the PWHL aims to maintain its momentum in fan attendance.
In January, the league announced that the game between Ottawa and Montreal on 2 January drew a record-breaking 8,318 attendees – the highest turnout for any professional women’s hockey game across all leagues.
The PWHL has been approached for comment on the partnership.
