Formula One has confirmed that Honda will be the title sponsor of the Japanese Grand Prix in this season’s 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship.

The event will be held at Suzuka Circuit from 2-9 October, whilst the official title of the competition is renamed to the Formula 1 Honda Japanese Grand Prix 2022.

Koji Watanabe, Operating Executive, Head of Corporate Communications Supervisory Unit atHonda Motor Co., Ltd, commented: “It is great pleasure for Honda to be named as the title sponsor of the F1 Japanese Grand Prix to be held at the Suzuka Circuit which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.”

There will be 10 teams including Oracle Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri, which Honda supports as a team partner, competing with 20 drivers who will look to demonstrate their driving skills at what has been described as the ‘highest peak’ in the world of racing.

“By contributing to this outstanding Grand Prix, Honda will continue supporting the further promotion and popularisation of motorsports in Japan,” Watanabe added.

In recent months, Formula One also formed a multi-year partnership with MSC Cruises, as the company became a global partner of the competition for the 2022 season.

The collaboration began at the Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2022, and now sees the Swiss-based cruise brand as the official cruise partner of the sport whilst bringing technologically advanced ships port-side during select Grand Prix weekends.
