StatsBomb has signed a multi-year agreement to provide event data for the clubs of the Austrian Bundesliga

The top division in the professional Austrian league system will utilise the firm’s football data and IQ analysis platform for its 12 clubs.

It includes access to 3,400 events per match and StatsBomb metrics, such as Pressures by Team and Player and Pass Footedness, as well as detailed profiles for every player in the domestic league.

David Reisenauer, Head of Competition at Austrian Bundesliga, said: “As a league we are always looking for new ways to support the daily work of our clubs and especially the coaches.

“With adding data from StatsBomb to our widespread portfolio on data analytics we made additional progress and are now looking forward to a great cooperation over the next few years.”

The top-flight league will use the company’s ‘Expected Goals (xG) model’, which includes a variety of upgraded features to give a better understanding of goalkeeper positioning and its contribution to suppressing xG values.

“We are delighted to announce this strategic partnership with the goal of contributing to Austria’s increasing importance in world football,” added Ismail Tari, Business Development Lead, StatsBomb.

“This partnership will also strengthen the clubs’ innovative approach to key aspects of the modern game, including player recruitment and performance analysis. Also a big thank you to David Reisenauer for being a great counterpart throughout the entire process.”
