A regulated sports betting market is on the horizon in Brazil, and with federal legislation containing clear integrity provisions, Sportradar has moved to enhance its leadership in this area.
The Swiss-based international sportstech and data provider has appointed Felippe Marchetti as Integrity Partnerships Manager for Brazil, tasked with leading the strategic development of the Sportradar Integrity Services (SIS) division in the emerging market.
His responsibilities will include formulating integrity partnerships in the market and working closely with the firm’s Brazil-based integrity analysts as well as overseeing existing arrangements with key stakeholders.
Andreas Krannich, Sportradar EVP, Integrity, Rights Protection and Regulatory Services said: “As the sports betting market regulates in Brazil, the need for robust and resilient integrity services has never been greater.
“I’m excited to have Felippe join our team to oversee our work in Brazil and lead our efforts to safeguard the integrity of competitions in this growing market.”
Sportradar has already built up a strong foothold in in the country ahead of market launch via integrity partnerships with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and CONMEBOL.
Market launch was confirmed just before New Year when President Lula da Silva approved the legislation presented to him by Congress. Silva had initiated the Bill to legislators last summer, where it was subsequently amended with a number of provisions.
This includes several integrity requirements. Notably, anyone with influence over sporting events or gaming platforms and key sports personnel such as directors, coaches, referees, agents and athletes, are prohibited from betting.
As the market continues to evolve, it can be expected that sports organisations, including clubs and associations, as well as bookmakers, will look to integrate and/or enhance integrity monitoring solutions.
