Qualcomm Technologies, Manchester United‘s front-of-shirt sponsor, has opted to extend its partnership with the club until 2029.
As part of the extended agreement, Qualcomm Technologies has broadened its sponsorship rights to include the PC category and has exercised the option to place a logo on the back of Manchester United shirts for the 2024/25 season.
This logo, which was first seen during the Community Shield match, is positioned below the squad numbers and will be featured on the back of the shirts during Women’s Super League (WSL) games, as well as in select men’s, women’s and academy matches throughout the 2024/25 season.
Omar Berrada, CEO of Manchester United, commented: “In a short time, we have seen that Snapdragon and Manchester United are a perfect fit. We have achieved record-breaking home, away and third shirt launches, enjoyed an insightful trip with members of the first team and club leadership to Qualcomm’s HQ and taken an innovative approach to the back-of-shirt rights.
“Against that backdrop, we are incredibly proud to announce the extension of our principal partnership.
“We have ambitious plans for this club to continue to grow and win, on and off the pitch. Qualcomm’s commitment to join us on this journey shows the strength and depth of the bond between us, which we know will only be enhanced the more we work together.”
Manchester United revealed Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon brand as the 2024/25 front-of-shirt sponsor for both the men’s and women’s teams ahead of the new season in July.
Since then, the club has unveiled all three of its kits, with content showcasing the Snapdragon logo generating over two billion digital media impressions – surpassing any previous partner launch in the club’s history.
Additionally, the Snapdragon Insiders community, a global group of enthusiasts, saw a 256% growth in the month following the home shirt’s release, reaching over 16 million members, compared to an average month.
Don McGuire, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer of Qualcomm Incorporated, said: “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Manchester United, showcasing the Snapdragon brand on the Manchester United shirts through 2029. Throughout our partnership, we look forward to helping the club achieve its goals on the pitch and off the pitch as the club reimagines Old Trafford and Carrington.
“We’re excited to bring our technology partners onto the back of the shirt and into the club community in unprecedented ways and enable new experiences for the 1.1 billion Manchester United fans around the world.”
Manchester United’s desire to build a new stadium has continued through to this season and Qualcomm has expressed interest in helping bring these dreams to fruition.
Earlier this month, McGuire mentioned in an interview with the New York Times that the company is open to the possibility of purchasing the naming rights for Old Trafford, helping generate money for a new stadium.
