T-Mobile becomes official partner of McLaren F1 team

McLaren F1 Racing has announced T-Mobile as an official partner of the team for the upcoming US Grand Prix

T-Mobile will become an exclusive 5G partner of McLaren during the Grand Prix in Austin, Texas and will lend its connectivity to help enhance race day operations for its fans, hosted guests and “unlock immersive new fan experiences at US races”. 

The McLaren Team will feature T-Mobile branding will feature prominently for the remaining US races of the 2024 season and beyond, including garage headsets and the race cars of drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

Matt Dennington, Co-Chief Commercial Officer at McLaren Racing, said:“We are delighted to welcome T-Mobile to the McLaren Racing family. As our US fan base continues to grow, it is great to be able to work with more partners that will help us increase our presence and ability to activate our fans in these regions.”

Next Sunday’s (20 October) US Grand Prix will be the 53rd edition and the 12th to be held in Austin. Due to the surge in Formula One popularity in the US, attributed to the success of the Netflix documentary ‘Drive to Survive’, the US also holds the Miami Grand Prix and the Las Vegas Grand Prix as part of the F1 calendar. 

For companies such as T-Mobile, gaining brand and advertising opportunities in the US and the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November, represents a major platform for the company to help grow its brand and increase its exposure. 

McLaren partners, such as Mastercard and Optimise Nutrition, are also set to benefit from the exposure being associated with the team, who currently sit top of the 2024 constructors standings with Norris pushing Max Verstappen for the top spot in the driver’s standings in second.
