Florentino Pérez has been re-elected as President of Real Madrid for a further four years the club has confirmed.

Pérez faced no opposition during a Presidential election he called several weeks back, with no potential candidates submitting an intention of running against him before the 10 day deadline.

Candidates are required to provide monetary guarantees 15% worth of Real Madrid’s budget, as well as being a member of the board for at least 20 years.

This is not the first time Pérez has won an election unopposed, as he won the last three elections prior to the 2025 win with no candidates submitting their interest (2013, 2017, and 2021).

The Spanish football club confirmed Pérez’s election win, stating: “There has been only one candidacy… he is hereby proclaimed president of Real Madrid.”

Once his next Presidential term comes to an end in 2029, Pérez will have been President of Real Madrid for a total of 21 years, first serving as President for the first time in 2000.

He oversaw the signings of high-profile talent during that time, such as Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo Nazario and David Beckham, famously dubbed ‘The Galacticos’. Whilst on-field success may have appeared underwhelming, Pérez stated that these signings were instrumental in eliminating club debt.

After resigning in February 2006, Pérez returned as President in 2009 and once again, went into the transfer market to sign the best football players across the world. Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Kaka were all bought in the summer of 2009.

During both tenures as President, Pérez has won seven La Liga titles, seven UEFA Champions League titles and 37 major trophies in total.
Pérez’s long-term future as President will also hope to bring long-term stability for the club, having invested over €1bn in renovations to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, as well as securing young talent in Jude Bellingham, Arda Güler, Endrick and Kylian Mbappé.
