The British & Irish Lions has named talkSport as the exclusive audio broadcast partner for this summer’s Tour to Australia.

Under the agreement, talkSport will provide more than 200 hours of coverage, including live match commentary for every game in the series, alongside dedicated programmes and podcasts.

The audio platform has highlighted that there will be opportunities for Lions’ supporters to interact with this coverage, offering them the chance to share their opinions throughout the Tour via social media or phoning in.

This deal marks talkSport’s fourth consecutive Tour as the exclusive audio broadcast partner, meaning the station first covered a Lion’s Tour in 2013, which also happened to take place in Australia.

Tom Halsey, Chief Commercial Officer of The British & Irish Lions, said: “It’s brilliant to be working with talkSPORT again for our fourth Tour together.

“The team were an outstanding broadcast partner to The British & Irish Lions during the 2013, 2017, and 2021 Tours and we look forward to building on our successful partnership.

“Thousands of fans back home will be listening as the action unfolds, and we are delighted to have talkSPORT providing our loyal supporters with the highest quality build-up, commentary, analysis and discussion.”

The British & Irish Lions will be hoping to replicate its broadcasting success of 2021, which saw a significant increase and a total audience number exceeding four million at its peak – a statistic aided by the partnership of talkSport alongside other brands such as bet365, Vitality and The Famous Grouse

Supported by IMG, the Lions’ licensing partner, the team has already acquired several high-profile commercial deals. Furthermore, there has been an increased priority on digitisation, with its 2025 jersey incorporating a Near Field Communication (NFC) tag to enhance fan engagement.

Liam Fisher, Head of talkSPORT, commented: “We’re delighted to be bringing The British & Irish Lions Tour to our listeners for another exciting summer of world-class rugby.

“talkSPORT is incredibly proud of our relationship with the Lions – and it is fitting to be back in Australia, where it all started, for our fourth Tour together.

“The talkSPORT team can’t wait to be on ground down under to bring you all the games, all the commentaries, and all the action for what promises to be another gripping Series.”
