The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) confirmed on 29 May that its competitions will be streamed in the US by NBC Sports’ Peacock.
The first PDC live event broadcast on Peacock was the Premier League Darts Final at the O2 Arena in London, where Luke Humphries beat Luke Littler 11-8 to beat the reigning champion.
The broadcast deal will see Peacock stream live coverage of all PDC major competitions, including the US Darts Masters, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, Grand Slam of Darts, and the World Darts Championship.
With over 36 million subscribers as of Q4’ 2024, Peacock is one of the largest sports streaming platforms in the US, acting as a potential gateway to garner more fanfare for darts.
As the sport has undergone a new growth period in the UK, led by the likes of 17-year-old sensation Littler, as well as Humphries, Michael Van Gerwin and Stephen Bunting, the success began to sail across the Atlantic.
Speaking on the iGaming Daily podcast, Gethin Evans – Managing Director, UK & Ireland for BetMGM, believes that it will take a top US star to emerge from the country before darts can truly take off.
He said: “If all of a sudden the US pops up with a new darts superstar then I think there is huge interest in the passion for local heroes that exists within the US. I think that would change everything overnight.”
All eyes will be on the US Darts Masters on June 27-28 at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City to see the extent of darts’ growth. The competition was founded in 2017 by the PDC and ran its first event the same year in Las Vegas.
Darts adds to Peacock’s plethora of sports programming content, which includes the Premier League, Olympic and Paralympic Games, NBA and WNBA from October 2025, NASCAR and golf.
