Arsenal Women is set to build on its commercial momentum by playing at Emirates Stadium for all its Women’s Super League (WSL) home matches next season.
Announced today (June 10), the club revealed it will play all 11 WSL home games at the Emirates. This follows last season’s nine home matches at the stadium, which drew an average attendance of 34,000, including a record high 56,748 fans for the February win over Tottenham.
Richard Garlick, Arsenal Managing Director, said: “Today’s announcement is another bold step forward. It’s an opportunity to create a special home for our team and allow more opportunities for our community, and a new generation of supporters to watch the European champions.
“It’s the start of another chapter in the story of our women’s team just two weeks on from us lifting the Champions League trophy with our community here in Islington. We keep moving forward together, and we’ll continue to fuel and inspire each other.”
As Garlick noted, Arsenal Women will enter next season as the reigning UEFA Champions League winners. However, European league phase matches and all women’s domestic cup fixtures will take place at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium (Meadow Park, Borehamwood).
If Arsenal reach the Champions League knockout stage, those games will be played at the Emirates.
Commercial benefits galore
One obvious advantage of playing at the Emirates is its larger capacity, which has already helped boost attendance. Arsenal reports more than 415,000 tickets were sold across the 2024/25 season, a 20% increase on the previous year.
More tickets mean more matchday revenue. According to Deloitte’s Annual Review of Football Finance (June 9), every WSL club generated at least £1m in revenue last year for the first time, driven by rises in both commercial and matchday income.
While average commercial revenue for WSL clubs grew by 53%, matchday revenue jumped by 73%, showing a surge in interest in attending women’s football matches throughout the 2023/24 season.
To capitalise on this, Arsenal will offer a full Emirates Stadium Season Ticket for the women’s team for the first time, giving thousands more fans the chance to reserve their seats.
Beyond commercial gains, this move is a great opportunity to grow the women’s game by welcoming more spectators.
“Our players and staff know what it means to walk out in front of a packed Emirates Stadium. It brings a sense of pride and belonging to all of us. It fuels a relentless drive to win and is a crucial part of how we create the best conditions for our women’s team to succeed,” said Clare Wheatley, Director of Women’s Football.
“We felt that winning connection all season, and to share in a Champions League win with our supporters in north London after returning from Lisbon inspired us all to push on.”
