Sky Sports has faced competition in the boxing broadcast space, but is placing its faith in a new venture from Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) to continue increasing exposure for women’s boxing.
Sky Sports has signed a multi-year broadcast deal with Most Valuable Promotions’ (MVP) new women’s boxing platform, MVPW.
Sky Sports will exclusively broadcast MVPW boxing events in the UK and Ireland. This will include two all-female fight night events every year.
The first MVPW in the UK starts on 5 April 2026 at the Olympia in London, headlined by Caroline Dubois and Terri Harper in a lightweight world title unification fight. Ellie Scotney vs. Mayelli Flores will co-headline the event in a Super Bantamweight world title unification fight.
As well as events in the UK, Sky Sports will also show selected MVPW fight nights in the US, starting on 17 April 2026 (18th UK). This will see unified junior lightweight champion Alycia Baumgardner defending her titles against Bo Mi Re Shin in the main event from the Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Shadasia Green will make a 10-round defence of her unified super middleweight world titles against former light heavyweight champion Lani Daniels in the co-main event for the same show.
Further details of future cards will be announced in due course, confirmed Sky Sports.
Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul, Co-Founders of MVP, said: “This partnership with Sky Sports marks a major milestone for MVPW and women’s boxing globally. Through MVPW, we are committed to delivering meaningful opportunities for fighters while producing premium events that expand the global reach and commercial potential of women’s boxing.
“We have the best female British boxers in the world and Sky Sports is the perfect home to showcase the elite talent and championship-level action that defines MVPW. Together, we’re committed to continuing to elevate women’s boxing to the main stage it deserves, delivering unforgettable nights for fans across the UK and beyond.”
Sky Sports’ shift to US boxing promoters
Sky Sports has strengthened its coverage of women’s boxing over the past several years, showcasing fights such as Claressa Shields’ victory over Savannah Marshall in an all-female card in 2022, which was watched by more than two million viewers, making it the most-watched women’s professional boxing event at the time.
The UK and Ireland sports broadcaster revealed its channels and platforms accounted for 79% of all televised women’s sports in the UK, with total viewership increasing by 25% from the year before.
Sky Sports’ Chief Officer UK and Ireland, Jonathan Licht, said: “This agreement with MVP underlines Sky Sports’ ambition to showcase the very best in women’s boxing to sports fans and new audiences.
“As the UK and Ireland’s biggest investor in and broadcaster of women’s sport, we are proud to be part of the momentum women’s boxing is enjoying and adding the sport to our unrivalled line-up.”
The MVPW agreement follows Sky Sports’ broadcast deal with Zuffa Boxing, the new boxing promotion vehicle created by TKO Group – led by Dana White and Nick Khan – and Sela – led by Turki Alalsheikh.
The multi-year agreement will see Sky Sports air a minimum of five fights on UK soil. Some of the fighters set to appear on Zuffa Boxing cards in the UK include Conor Benn, who left Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing to join the upstart promotion.
Matchroom has a long-standing broadcast partnership with Sky Sports that lasted from 2012 to 2021. Matchroom then agreed a broadcast deal to showcase its events on DAZN, while Ben Shalom’s BOXXER inked a deal to keep British boxing on Sky Sports until the deal ended in June 2025.
The agreements with Zuffa Boxing and MVPW means that boxing on Sky Sports will be primarily driven by two North American-based promotions. The broadcaster has seen competition in the boxing space for several years from DAZN and now Netflix.
