The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has named American Express as the official card for the men’s senior, women’s senior and youth national teams.

The partnership will last until 2026, coinciding with the FIFA World Cup hosted in the US, Mexico and Canada, where the senior men’s team will look to defend the trophy they won in Qatar in December 2022.

Claudio Tapia, President of the AFA, said: “We are happy and proud to add a company like American Express to the projects of National Teams. After several years of growing in our sponsorship platform, it is important to continue adding the support of companies of this level.

“The results of the positioning of the AFA brand in different global markets are visible. We thank American Express for the trust and work done to achieve this great agreement. It will undoubtedly be a successful partnership for both.”

American Express will support the senior men’s, senior women’s and youth teams throughout their national and international commitments and will provide cardholders with some exclusive benefits.

Members with American Express Card issued in the Americas will be able to gain early access to tickets and preferential seats at all Argentina national games hosted in the country.

Further benefits include selected experiences to meet and greets with players, training session visits and entry into autographed merchandise raffles.

Henry Seeber, President, and General Manager of American Express, Argentina, added: “This new sponsorship allows us to bring Card Members closer to the sports they love and connect with one their passions, Argentine Football.

“We continue to find ways to provide great access and experiences for Card Members, making sports better when you’re with American Express.”

American Express becomes the latest sponsorship deal secured by the AFA this year as the football federation is looking to seize on the momentum of its national teams since the men’s senior team lifted their third world cup.

The AFA signed a partnership deal with forex broker XTrend to become a regional sponsor of the country’s national team, as well as securing a deal with Xiaomi India in a bid to enhance the support it holds in India.
