Hydration and nutrition company Gatorade has signed a new sponsorship deal with the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

The PepsiCo-owned brand is now the official sponsor of the Primera División and the Women’s Championship, just months after the nation conquered the world at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Claudio Tapia, President of AFA, said: “In all these years of management we have developed a strong expansion of the AFA brand, the Professional League and the Women’s Championship. International brands such as Gatorade understand and accompany the steps taken in constant professionalisation.

“Thanks to this agreement with Gatorade, we can continue our relationship with one of the most important global brands such as PepsiCo and its beverage family. Today we welcome Gatorade as the official sponsor of the Argentine Professional Football League and the Women’s Championship.”

Gatorade stated that the partnership aims to promote high sports performance and the importance of physical recovery after intense training, which is why it will “accompany Argentine footballers during this year in both professional tournaments”

Francisco Mangiarotti, Director of Marketing of PepsiCo Bebidas in South Latin America, added: “Gatorade’s mission is to help athletes achieve their best performance, that’s why we seek to hydrate soccer players where they have to play and contribute to their performance in each challenge of the Professional Football League. At PepsiCo gender equality is a key value for the development of our business and our The alliance reaffirms our commitment.”

Leandro Petersen, Marketing and Commercial Manager at AFA, continued by saying that the partnership with Gatorade expands AFA’s commercial boundaries.

He concluded: “Gatorade’s accompaniment to both first division leagues is a reflection of a work that is strengthened year after year. Gatorade will be present on all the courts of our local football. The Professional Football League and the Women’s Championship continue to incorporate top-level sponsors and we are proud to be part of this quality leap.”
