GBM Sports’ upcoming boxing event at London’s historic York Hall will be broadcast by UK sports media outlet talkSPORT.

Part of the News UK media group, talkSPORT is the UK’s most widely listened to sports radio station. The outlet will provide free live coverage of the event on 24 May, billed as ‘London Calling’.

Welterweight fighters Kaisee Benjamin and Lucas Ballingall will headline the event. The rest of the card will see Stevi Levy and Tysie Gallagher face each other in a super-bantamweight bout and Alireza ‘Razor Ali’ Ghadiri vs Lennox Lythgoe, also at super-bantamweight.

Izzy Asif, GBM Sports CEO, said: “At the beginning of the year we told the boxing world what we were planning, and I’m proud that we’ve delivered everything we set out to do and more.

“Now we’re taking the Capital by storm with ‘London’s Calling’ with 50:50 title fights, heavyweight action, in a night like never seen before at London’s York Hall.”

The hosting of several prominent high-profile matches in Saudi Arabia, such as the upcoming match between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, has driven substantial audience engagement with boxing.

Against this backdrop, GBM Sports has been pursuing a more visible profile in British boxing. A notable move of late saw the company appoint Adam Smith as Director of Broadcasting.

Smith is an iconic figure in British boxing, having worked as a commentator in the sport for many years. This included a long tenure at Sky Sports, an outlet highlighted as an important broadcast partner of British boxing by the likes of Ben Shalom, CEO of the BOXXER promotion.

Meanwhile, the partnership between talkSPORT and GBM marks a continuation of the station’s history of commercial relationships with sporting stakeholders.

The firm is a radio partner of the Premier League and English Football League (EFL) and has signed deals in other sports such as NFL via deals with the likes of the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers.
