The UK’s Super League Basketball (SLB) is moving to further enhance its broadcast reach and appeal with the 2024/25 season underway, announcing some new production partners.

Bristol-based video production group Brandvox and EMG / Gravity Media, a sports broadcasting agency formed via the merger of EMG and Gravity Media earlier this year, have officially partnered with the league.

SLB is currently in the midst of its inaugural season, having operated as the British Basketball league (BBL) until a rebrand last year. The sport of basketball has been enjoying growing audiences and attendees in the UK, and the SLB is seeking to capitalise on this.

SLB Interim Chair, Vaughn Millette, said: “Throughout an exhaustive tender process, both Brandvox and EMG / Gravity Media demonstrated a clear and collaborative commitment to engaging the Super League Basketball community and providing fans with the best possible coverage of their sport.

“We’ve been impressed by how quickly Brandvox and EMG / Gravity Media have mobilised their resources to work together and enable the Super League games to be broadcast from the very opening weekend.

“Given the tight timescales we’ve all been working to, we look forward to developing the offering throughout the SLB Trophy competition and introducing a weekly half-hour highlights show alongside additional digital content in the coming weeks.”

To secure as wide as possible visibility for its first season, SLB partnered with DAZN, the London-based OTT sports streaming platform, just a couple of weeks ago. Brandox and EMG / Gravity will work on the hands-on and instadia production element of the league’s coverage.

Brandvox will utilise its live and on-demand video production and distributions services, whilst EMG / Gravity will handle production and content, media services and facilities to oversee on-demand content across SLB live games.

“EMG / Gravity Media is delighted to work alongside SuperLeague Basketball and Brandvox,” said Frank Callaghan, EMG / Gravity Media’s Director of Production and Content in the UK.

“It’s an exciting next stage for the sport in the UK, with a brand-new broadcast partner, we’re looking forward to bringing the stories to life in what promises to be a fascinating season ahead.”
