Spanish football giants Real Madrid are reportedly working with Apple to create Vision Pro glasses that will enable fans to feel like they are watching games at the Santiago Bernabéu from home.
The glasses will tap into augmented reality to create a new immersive viewing experience for fans to be transported to Real Madrid home games whilst not physically able to attend matches.
Real Madrid Florentino Pérez confirmed that the club are working on an idea that would be titled ‘Infinite Santiago Bernabeu’ at a Real Madrid Partners Assembly last Sunday (24 November).
He said: “It would be Infinite Santiago Bernabeu. It’s not The Matrix, it’s Real Madrid and the future, the end of the ‘no tickets available’ or the famous ‘sold out’.”
The collaboration with Apple comes after Pérez highlighted that the club’s cap on season tickets is far less than the demand for them from fans.
The Santiago Bernabeu has recently undergone major redevelopments that totalled nearly €1bn to complete. New renovations included a silver steel arc across the outside walls of the stadium, a 360-degree LED monitor inside the ground and increased the capacity from 81,000 to 84,000.
Despite the increase in capacity and Real Madrid being one of the most supported and followed clubs in world football, fans are still struggling to gain access to season tickets and even matchday tickets, which is something Pérez is trying to solve with Infinite Santiago Bernabéu.
“It’s a problem. Everyone wants to come to the Santiago Bernabéu and that’s why we’re negotiating with Apple about being able to put on glasses and watch the game as if you were in Real Madrid’s home ground,” commented Pérez.
