From sponsorships to industry-wide announcements, Insider Sport has you covered when it comes to the world of esports.

This week’s edition highlights the latest developments within the sector, including European esports organisations Team Heretics and CGN Esports forming a strategic partnership focused on VALORANT.

This collaboration opens doors for Team Heretics to enter the DACH region, home to CGN Esports. In return, CGN aims to leverage the popularity of VALORANT Champions 2024 runners-up Team Heretics to boost its presence in Spain.

The partnership will also see the two entities organise activations, including watch parties, community tournaments and content featuring players from both teams, as well as offering training opportunities.

Additionally, Team Heretics and CGN Esports will release co-branded merchandise, such as jerseys and collectibles. The organisations also announced plans for offline events in Spain and Germany in 2025.

Niklas Geiß, Team Heretics’ VCT and LEC Team Director, stated: “Entering the DACH region with a strong partner like CGN is an honour for us. Heretics and CGN are united by a vision to inspire the next generation of esports fans through performance, creativity, and authentic community engagement.”

David Dick, COO of CGN Esports, remarked: “Partnering with Team Heretics, the VALORANT vice world champions, is a dream come true. This collaboration extends beyond esports; it’s about engaging with our fans and creating inspiring experiences, both in and out of the game.”

TALON reflects on success after ending PSG partnership

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Asian esports organisation TALON have announced the end of their League of Legends partnership.

Following the conclusion of the deal, PSG Talon will be rebranded as TALON. However, the organisation has confirmed its participation in League of Legends’ new Pacific League.

PSG and TALON’s partnership began in June 2020, when PSG Talon debuted in League of Legends. Throughout their collaboration, PSG Talon qualified for four world championships and secured seven PCS trophies.

The partnership also extended to other titles like Rainbow Six Siege, which will remain unaffected by the change. TALON has expressed its willingness to collaborate with PSG on future projects.

TALON commented: “We take immense pride in the successes we’ve achieved together, and this partnership will be remembered as one of the most iconic collaborations in esports history. The bond forged between TALON and PSG over the years is deeply valued.”

Charlton Athletic debuts new Gaming Box with Cyberlabs sponsorship

League One club Charlton Athletic FC has unveiled a new gaming and entertainment space at its stadium, The Valley.

Located in the Alan Curbishley Stand, the Cyberlabs Gaming Box is equipped with consoles, VR gear, and UNEVN PC gaming desks. The revamped space is designed to host a range of activities, including esports and streaming events.

The space will offer both matchday and non-matchday experiences, catering to fans, brands, creators, esports teams, and media. The aim is to enhance the club’s media and marketing capabilities while also supporting social initiatives through the Charlton Athletic Community Trust.

The new gaming box is sponsored by Cyberlabs, a digital entertainment company that focuses on education, sports and community venues. Founded by Sam Cooke, Ed Kim and Abdiqani Ahmed, Cyberlabs previously sponsored a Women’s FA Cup match between Charlton Athletic and Tottenham Hotspur.

Cooke, a lifelong Charlton fan and former board member of the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust, commented: “Even if I wasn’t a fan, this partnership would be something special. It’s an honour to sponsor Charlton Athletic and be able to work closely with the club.

“We’re confident this initiative will provide the club another way to deliver for partners, diversify revenue and deliver more from the stadium, bring Charlton closer to more fans, strengthen our digital presence, and give fans the option of a different experience at The Valley.

“The Community Trust already does incredible work, and we believe this space can help to amplify their efforts too.”

As reported by Esports Insider, at the beginning of last year, Championship side Sheffield Wednesday also opened a gaming facility at its stadium, Hillsborough.
